About

Claudia Frost is an artist based in North Wales who works predominantly in encaustic wax media.

She is also a chartered landscape architect and urban designer who delights in exploring and trying to create new ways of seeing the world around her, through both art and design.

Claudia studied visual arts at Virginia School of the Arts and University of North Carolina School of the Arts, before delving into a bachelor of science degree and a masters in Landscape Architecture. She has always loved creating and finding unique ways of seeing the world, and the challenge of encaustic painting is too great to resist these days.

Encaustic painting is a two thousand (plus) year old method of painting using beeswax mixed with pigments and damar resin, which raises the melting point and hardens the painting into a permanent archival piece. The medium is very tricky to master and requires intense patience and skill to achieve desired results.
